The Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU) is a knowledge authority under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs tasked with conducting scientific evaluations of methods within healthcare, including dental care. SBU is also tasked with conducting scientific evaluations of interventions within social services and interventions supported by the LSS (Act on Support and Service). At SBU, collaboration is the foundation for a positive work environment and the core of daily operations and the quality of our products. The agency has about 100 employees.

The Department of Social Services is now seeking an expert in social work. The department consists of just over 20 employees gathered within two units; the unit for interventions for individuals, families, and communities, and the unit for interventions for the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Unit Description

The position is located in the Unit for Interventions for Individuals, Families, and Communities (IFS). The unit consists of 10 employees, and the daily work is led by a unit manager. The unit works with both government assignments and self-initiated projects. We evaluate, among other things, interventions for children and youth, individuals in vulnerable situations, and interventions to strengthen families and parenting. We also develop knowledge about implementation and phasing out, organizational aspects, and community-based interventions. The expert also works with the Unit for Interventions for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

As an expert in social work at the Department of Social Services, you will strategically contribute to the development of the entire department. You are responsible for producing knowledge bases and developing external contacts both nationally and internationally. The work is carried out both individually and in groups with qualified tasks within the subject area.

Job responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Monitoring the external environment within the department's subject areas.
  • Proposing, handling, and following up on complex issues with cross-organizational impact.
  • Representing the department in national and international contexts.
  • Acting as expert support for both colleagues and the management team.
  • Developing and proposing scientific methods and working methods within the subject area.
  • Contributing to complex scientific projects (knowledge bases) or being responsible for parts of a project.

Qualifications

  • PhD in social work or another doctoral degree deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience of practical work in – or in collaboration with – social services, after completing basic education.
  • Good knowledge of social services legislation, governance, and organization.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental monitoring, analysis, and strategic knowledge acquisition as a basis for organizational development and management decisions.
  • Experience representing the organization in external contexts.
  • Experience or good knowledge of various areas of activity within social services.
  • Experience planning and conducting training initiatives for authorities and organizations within social services.
  • Experience working with systematic reviews or equivalent knowledge bases.
  • Experience in research or research-related work after completing doctoral education.

Scope and Start Date

This is a permanent full-time position (100%). SBU applies a 6-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
